Forslag om at genindføre Siam

Bangkok Post hars reported: “The Prince Damrongrajanuphap Library has proposed the reintroduction of the kingdom’s old name ‘Siam’ for use along with Thailand to celebrate the 60th anniversary of His Majesty the King’s ascension to the throne next year. … M.L. Panadda, the prince’s great grandson, asked the culture minister to join the library in running a campaign to encourage people to call their country both Thailand and Siam. … He said many countries have two or more names.”

Yes, right, jeg tror, vi mange, der ikke forstår, at riget hedder Kingdom of Thailand, og ikke Kingdom of Siam, da det er mere korrekt. I Thailand er der rigtig nok forskellige Thai-racer, og flere Thai-sprog, men landet er Siam.
